A taxi driver have been charged in court for the death of NUS undergrad, Kathy Ong, who was a passenger in his taxi in April last year. Yap Kok Hua, 55, is charged with negligent act not amounting to culpable homicide, which carries a maximum sentence of a two year jail term and fine.

He had allegedly failed to give way to another car which was going straight while turning into Clementi Road on that fateful April day. 19 year old Ms Ong, who was a rear seat passenger was thrown partially out of the rear seat window and died in the accident. Another three NUS students were also in his cab, and all three suffered injuries and were taken to hospital.
